Licensed Midwives Assisting Wisconsin Families

About Our Services and Midwives:

Country Midwife, LLC offers licensed midwifery services to families of divergent backgrounds.   Although our name implies a rural setting, we primarily operate in Green Bay and its surrounding townships. Our “rural image” has more to do with the concept of an old-time style of care when country doctors and traditional midwives made house calls; caregivers were known by their communities and worked directly for the patients they served, not for insurance companies, corporate clinics or health maintenance organizations.

Consultations and prenatal appointments are offered in our Downtown Green Bay office.  The initial consultation is free.  Insurance billing and a sliding fee scale for self-paying clients are available.  Please call to schedule your initial consultation as early as possible in the pregnancy or prior to conception. If you cannot schedule a weekday meeting we offer Saturday appointments once a month.

We provide care primarily to healthy, low-risk women who plan to give birth in their own homes; however we believe that midwifery should be available to every woman who desires it, including those with high risk pregnancies and planning hospital births.

Families with complex circumstances may benefit from receiving dual care by a licensed midwife and obstetrician.  In cases like this we will design a modified care plan that fits your needs.

Our aim is to educate you about pregnancy and birth and promote natural birth as one way to prevent complications, even in high risk situations.  We also assist with breast feeding and follow up care in your home so you may be discharged from the hospital earlier and not make extra trips out during postpartum or surgical recovery.

Our midwives are sensitive to cultural and familial values; we have Spanish-speaking staff members.  Our midwives frequently work with other licensed midwives for back-up or when additional opinions are needed.  When we do, your private information will be protected. We also have access to pastoral council when difficulties occur.
